Bit of a hybrid! Been earning the bulk of my living as a professional magician and instructor (entertainment and art) for the last 20 years. Now living on the outskirts of Bungay in Suffolk where my wife and I plan to establish studios. Still working as an entertainer from time to time but concentrating on "art over gigs" now. In a previous life, I trained as a dancer(!) worked as aspiring rock star and composer, arts administrator and company director of sign making business and entertainment agency. I paint and draw in a fairly "academic" figurative style and became a member of the Preston Life Group in 2007. I also attended life sessions at Lythan St Annes and Preston Arts Societies as well as sharing sessions with a small team of other Preston artists at The Watermark, where I rented a studio.

Worked for a while as a life model at Lowestoft College of Art (my home town) in the very early 70s after leaving school and before deciding what to do next (while failing to become a rock god!)

Art was the only thing I was ever any good at at school. Chose not to go to art college after A levels. Eventually went to study performing arts in mid 70s and also trained as teacher. Returned seriously to art in the late 90s after a varied career path (!) - starting with adult evening classes and then a part time foundation course at Stafford College. Stayed on to do a Fine Art HND and was then asked to be the resident Fine Art practitioner there and, later, a sessional tutor there. Moved (temporarily) to NW in 2007 when my wife returned to university in Preston to study ceramics full time. Exhibiting where possible and trying to sell the occasional work. Booked to demonstrate and teach at the Cumberland Pencil Museum in 2009 and 2010. Since October 2010, now living and working in the beautiful Waveney Valley on the Norfolk/Suffolk border.

Music, Art, Magic and Food (not always in that order).

Most things art and magic related. But - ever since I can remember, I've read every and anything in front of me. Interested in science, puzzles, history, philosophy, comedy and biography.

The Last Picture Show, Singing in The Rain, Blow Up, Manon des Sources, Jean de Florette, anything with Jack Tati,

Unreconstructed prog rocker (Yes, King Crimson, Genesis etc.). Also jazz fusion (John McLaughlin etc), folk and Manouche (gypsy) jazz. Increasingly listening to British classical music now (Vaughn Williams, Britten etc.) In fact, almost everything except C&W (but even then, I like a good bit of steel guitar!).

Comedy, comedy quizes and documentaries mostly.

prejudice and bigotry

Hi Sam

How nice to hear from you.  I love living over here in Suffolk - and have vfound a regular group in Lowestoft - but I do really miss the groups and all my "arty" friends in Preston and Lytham.

All the best,

Malcolm

You never told me you were a failed Rock God Malcolm! That's magic!

I'm a semi failed Pavarotti myself, the singing didn't work out but I did get fat.

We're missing yoy terribly here at Preston and Lytham.

I, too, like the zebras.  What's the medium? It looks like a lot of your work is pencil/graphite?

Malcolm

Hi Malcolm, thanks for comment.  I left you a reply but I may have sent it wrong.  Zebra's is in acrylics, I do love pencil work and have heard you did Demo's for Derwent, well done.  I too am on the list of Derwent Artists.  Mel at Granthams told me about you winning the Harris last year ( I remember the Cows)  also the comp for Derwent, well done!  Your work is wonderful !!

LifeART ...the artist and model network
Welcome note from admin:
Welcome to LifeART, the networking site for artists and models. Modeling can often be a solitary profession with no contact or advice from other models. LifeART breaks down these barriers and offers help and advice to all. Be sure to check into the forum to view topical discussion between artists and models. Members may promote their services on the forum for free or subscribe to Gold Membership to have their profiles added to the search boxes to maximise their chances of finding work. Gold Membership is only £16 per year and also entitles members to send and receive messages on the main database.

Your account will automatically upgrade upon your funds being released from Paypal. This is usually instant although some forms of transaction take longer than others.

Members are reminded to be careful with whom they make contact and to take necessary precautions when meeting anyone for the first time. Please report any suspicious behaviour to keep this a safe and friendly environment.

Members must not harass other members. This is not a dating site. LifeART shares information with RAM and inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. Reported members will be removed without warning.

Photos are allowed up to a level of artistic nudity. This is NOT an adult site. Art tutors do not wish to see anatomical studies of genitals and any such images will considerably reduce your chances of finding work. Repetitive self-timer images that focus on the genitals will also be removed. Also, no erections or images that could be considered to contain semi erections. Finally, please do not include frontal nudity on your MAIN profile picture.

Thank you for your co-operation and happy browsing!
