Update on Ugly Face of Beauty
Posted On 05/08/2010 19:04:33

Hi,

Just an update on my previous entry.  If anyone is interested and missed the programme a few days ago, there is a clip of me at http://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-ugly-face-of-beauty/video .  The whole programme including a bit more of the item that I contributed to on the website or on 4OD.

The programme was a lot of fun to make and it was interesting how the teenagers had such extreme views about what would have made me perfect.  At 6'2" one felt that to be perfect I needed to be an inch taller!

An interesting lesson from this was that if you want to highlight an area on a model's body, it is much better to use an eye liner pencil as opposed to a surgeon's pen as the eyeline pencil comes off really easily - unlike the surgeons pen which lasts for days!

Best wishes

Andrew

PS - happy to accept offers of work in the Oxfordshire area on the back of this TV appearance!

"The Ugly Face of Beauty"
Posted On 18/07/2010 17:03:15

Hi,

I just thought that I would let everyone know that another member of this site and myself are both featured in "The Ugly Face of Beauty" which is being shown on Channel 4.  Life models were chosen as the production company wanted to demonstrate how a celebrity culture is influencing how teenagers feel about body image, and how so many of them feel that cosmetic surgery is the easy way to a "perfect body".  The teenagers were encouraged to draw on each model to recommend the areas where surgery might be useful.  Believe me - they were brutal.  Lipo and implants featured extensively for myself - but Dr Christian Jessen was able to point out that by eating less and exercising more I could get a similar result!

Be warned that the programme is quite graphic as it shows images of cosmetic surgery procedures - so I would suggest that you dont eat your supper while watching the programme which goes out on Tuesdays at 8pm.

Happy viewing
