Heather Spears 4-day intensive Life Drawing course

Location - AWOL Studios, Hope Mill, Pollard Street, Manchester
When - 29th March - 1st April

All working artists struggle to be more creative. This course will clearly explain what you’re up against though a series of working exercises that reveal what is going on during the act of drawing.

The course offers 4 days of drawing from a life model and offers practical solutions that will help any artist draw better as well as overcome creative blocks, bad drawing habits and common preconceptions.

This is a unique opportunity to experience the teaching of the Denmark based Canadian artist, poet and novelist Heather Spears. She is a renowned drawing instructor and regularly teaches in Canada and the USA. I was fortunate enough to benefit from her knowledge and passion for life drawing when I invited her to teach in Manchester in April 2011. She has offered to return in 2012 and this is definately an opportunity not to be missed.
Heather encourages her students to stretch and develop their artistic abilities. Her enthusiasm is infectious and many students will return to take other courses with her. She is a thoroughly kind, knowledgeable and inspirational instructor.

Hi all

Could everyone posting images please take some time to consider their images in relation to the guidelines before they post them (and possibly even review/remove some of their existing images).

If you look at the Welcome Note from Admin on the home page, you will see that it states:

Photos are allowed up to a level of artistic nudity only. This is NOT an adult site. Please use your most tasteful image for your profile picture. Art tutors do not wish to see anatomical studies of genitals and any such images will considerably reduce your chances of finding work.

I will add, that images will be removed by admin if deemed unsuitable. Persistent offenders may even risk receiving a ban.

So before you post an image, think about what the image is saying about you and your modeling capabilities and also consider whether the primary focus of the shot is on your genetalia - if it is - do not post it, but try cropping it till it is more artistically inclined.

Please all do your bit to make this site a pleasant place for artists and models alike.

A review is currently underway to ensure all images posted do conform to the guidelines, but if anyone notices a image which you feel contravenes the guidelines, please bring it to the attention of Admin and/or one of the LifeART forum moderators (myself(curvy), julie and bernard_w) for consideration.

Many thanks folks!

Customising your profile - a point to note!
Posted On 20/01/2009 10:38:30

Julie mentioned something to me yesterday about customising the colours on your profile.  Be careful not to make the text and the background THE SAME COLOUR!  She had noticed that one member had the contact box background AND the text both set to black rendering the text INVISIBLE (although the links did still work if you knew thay were there  ).        It is well worth reviewing your changes (and get another member to give it a quick once-over if possible) to check everything looks OK for you.

Profiles and the ellusive Contact box!
Posted On 18/01/2009 16:41:04

Hi all - it appears quite a few people are concerned that they may not have a Contact section on their profile.  Please rest assured, the contact box is there but you won't see it when you view your own profile (as it isn't very likely that you will want to send yourself a message - unless you are feeling very unloved, that is  ).   Any other member viewing your profile will definitely be able to see it and (providing their membership level allows) will be able to contact you!

Live Chat

Hi folks - a few of us full members use the Live Chat (top left of your window) from time to time - how about popping in and saying Hi????

Using the Bulletin Board
Posted On 10/01/2009 15:58:56

Hi folks - I notice lots of people have been posting a Bulletin and using it as an advert.  Well the only people who can actually read all the info in your bulletin are those people who are on your friends list.  So it is possible that your 'ad' may not be seen by many people at all.  And those that can read it will probably know something about you anyway (as they are on your riends list)!

Better to put all the information on your profile.

I just wanted to say congratulations to BF on the design of the new site!  I have had a quick look around and it looks great.
I am looking forward to seeing the uk members and new folk too.
Once again well done and a big thank you to BF (and the development team)!

LifeART ...the artist and model network
Welcome note from admin:
Welcome to LifeART, the networking site for artists and models. Modeling can often be a solitary profession with no contact or advice from other models. LifeART breaks down these barriers and offers help and advice to all. Be sure to check into the forum to view topical discussion between artists and models. Members may promote their services on the forum for free or subscribe to Gold Membership to have their profiles added to the search boxes to maximise their chances of finding work. Gold Membership is only £16 per year and also entitles members to send and receive messages on the main database.

Your account will automatically upgrade upon your funds being released from Paypal. This is usually instant although some forms of transaction take longer than others.

Members are reminded to be careful with whom they make contact and to take necessary precautions when meeting anyone for the first time. Please report any suspicious behaviour to keep this a safe and friendly environment.

Members must not harass other members. This is not a dating site. LifeART shares information with RAM and inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. Reported members will be removed without warning.

Photos are allowed up to a level of artistic nudity. This is NOT an adult site. Art tutors do not wish to see anatomical studies of genitals and any such images will considerably reduce your chances of finding work. Repetitive self-timer images that focus on the genitals will also be removed. Also, no erections or images that could be considered to contain semi erections. Finally, please do not include frontal nudity on your MAIN profile picture.

Thank you for your co-operation and happy browsing!
